Porto or sometimes called Oporto is Portugal’s second-largest city which also known for a very unique wine.
In our Porto tour, five places from the UNESCO World Heritage List: Heronimos Monastery and Belem Tower, Sintra, Batalha Monastery, and Porto Historical Center will be visited.
Day 1 / 16 May 2022 / Monday ISTANBUL – LISBON
We meet at the Istanbul Airport International Departures Terminal, complete our check-in procedures, and fly to Lisbon at 07:30 with the Turkish Airlines TK 1755 scheduled flight. We arrive in Lisbon at 10:25 local time and leave the airport for our panoramic Lisbon city tour. Among the places we will see on our city tour, we will first see the Expo region. Then we visit the Vasca de Gama Tower and Bridge, the Heronimos Monastery, and the Belem Tower, built to commemorate Vasco de Gama’s overseas discoveries. During our tour, we take our lunch at a local restaurant. After the meal, we take a break at the famous Pasteis de Belem Patisserie to taste one of the most special flavors of the region, “pasteis de Belem”. During the panoramic tour with our bus, Praça do Comerico, Praça Rossio and Padrao dos Descobrimentos (Monument of Discoveries), which was built to commemorate geographical discoveries, are among the places we will see. We will have free time after the tour. After free time, we have our dinner at a local restaurant. Overnight is at our hotel.
Day 2 / 17 May 2022 / Tuesday LISBON – SINTRA – CASCAIS – LISBON
After breakfast at our hotel, we move to Sintra, which is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List with its city planning adorned with the romantic architecture of the 9th century. We visit the National Palace in Sintra, which the poet Lord Byron describes as the most beautiful village in the world. After our tour of the palace, we first have our lunch at a local restaurant and then visit Cabo do Roca (Roca Cape), which is considered the westernmost point of the European mainland, and the old fishing town of Cascais. After our tour, we return to Lisbon and we will have free time in the city center. Then dinner and Fado Night. Accommodation at our hotel.
Day 3 / 18 May 2022 / Wednesday LISBON – OBIDOS – FATIMA – NAZARE – PORTO
After breakfast we set off for Porto. Before arriving in Porto, our first stop during our journey will be Obidos, a charming old town founded in the Roman period. After visiting Obidos, we will continue our journey and explore the town of Fatima, famous for the miracle of the “Three Secrets of Fatima” and home to tens of thousands of Christian pilgrims every year. After the trip to Fatima, we see Nazare, the fishing city surrounded by high bays. At the end of the tour, we take our lunch at a local restaurant in Nazare. After dinner, our journey to Porto will continue. Upon our arrival in Porto, we go to our hotel. After checking into our hotel, we go to have our dinner at a local restaurant. Day 4 / 19 May 2022 / Thursday PORTO – GUİMARAES – PORTO
After breakfast, we leave the hotel for our Porto city tour. Among the places we will see during our city tour; Sao Bento Train Station, Sao Francisco Church, Foz, Boa Vista Avenue and Stock Exchange Palace are available. During our city tour, we also cross the Dom Luis bridge and go to the wine cellars to taste wine in Gaia. Afterwards, we take a boat trip on the Rio Doura river. After the boat trip, we have our lunch at a local restaurant. Then we move on to Guimaraes, known as “the birthplace of the Portuguese nationality”. Guimaraes Castle and Palace of the Dukes of Bragança (Paço dos Duques de Bragança), built in the 10th century, 15-19. The Oliveira Church and Santa Clara Church in Nossa Senhora, with its facade adorned with sculptures from the 19th century, are among the places we will see. Then we take a break at Largo de Oliveira (Olive Tree Square) and set off to return to Porto. We have our dinner at a local restaurant in Porto. Overnight at our hotel.
Day 5 / 20 May 2022 / Friday PORTO – ISTANBUL
After breakfast, we will have free time until the time determined by our guide. Then we set off for Porto airport. We are flying to Istanbul at 16.10 with the TK 1450 scheduled flight of Turkish Airlines. Our arrival in Istanbul will be at 22.45. See you on our next exploration.
